FAQ, Policies & Terms
Everything you need to know before your Calm Theory Bodywork session.
Appointments & Booking
How do I book an appointment?
Studio appointments may be booked online through the Calm Theory Bodywork booking system.
A valid card on file is required to secure your reservation. Your card is not charged at the time of booking unless otherwise stated. It is securely held in accordance with the cancellation and no-show policies below.
Are mobile appointments available?
Yes, on a limited basis.
Mobile massage sessions are not available for direct online booking and must be arranged personally. Availability, travel fees, and minimum booking requirements vary based on location.
Please call or text (760) 673-9515 to inquire about mobile availability.
What is your cancellation and rescheduling policy?
A minimum of 24 hours' notice is required to cancel or reschedule an appointment.
Appointments canceled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours' notice are subject to a $50 late-cancellation fee charged to the card on file.
Appointments changed or canceled with at least 24 hours' notice will not incur a cancellation fee.
What happens if I don't show up?
A missed appointment without proper notice is considered a no-show.
No-shows are subject to a fee equal to 50% of the scheduled service price, charged to the card on file.
Repeated no-shows or late cancellations may require prepayment before future appointments are accepted.
Do you accept same-day appointments?
Yes, when availability permits.
Same-day appointments may be booked online when available. Because the appointment is reserved on short notice, the standard cancellation and no-show policies apply once the appointment is confirmed.
What if I'm late?
Your appointment time is reserved specifically for you. Late arrival may result in a shortened session so subsequent appointments can remain on schedule.
The original service price still applies.
Whenever scheduling allows, I will do my best to provide your full session.
What if Calm Theory needs to cancel?
If Calm Theory Bodywork needs to cancel or reschedule your appointment, you will not be charged a cancellation fee. Every reasonable effort will be made to find another appointment time that works for you.
Your Session
What should I expect during my first appointment?
Before your session, we'll briefly discuss your goals, areas of concern, pressure preferences, comfort level, and relevant health information.
Your massage is then personalized around what your body needs that day.
How much clothing do I remove?
Undress only to your personal comfort level.
Professional draping is used throughout every massage, and only the area currently being worked on is uncovered.
Can I request a certain pressure or technique?
Absolutely. Communication is encouraged throughout your session.
Pressure, positioning, techniques, temperature, music, and other elements can be adjusted for your comfort.
Are enhancements included?
Yes.
Calm Theory takes an all-inclusive approach to bodywork. Aromatherapy, cupping, hot stones, assisted stretching, and other available techniques may be incorporated when appropriate without additional enhancement fees.
You are booking my time—not purchasing a list of upgrades.
Every session is customized around your individual needs, preferences, goals, and what is appropriate for your body that day.
Will every massage include every modality?
No. Each technique is used intentionally.
More techniques do not necessarily create a better massage. Modalities are selected based on your goals, preferences, contraindications, comfort, and the needs of that particular session.
What techniques may be incorporated?
Depending on the session, bodywork may incorporate Swedish massage, Deep Tissue techniques, Trigger Point Therapy, Reflexology, Sports and Recovery techniques, assisted stretching, cupping, hot stones, and other techniques within my professional training and scope of practice.
Is aromatherapy required?
No. Aromatherapy is completely optional.
Please let me know about allergies, sensitivities, pregnancy, scent preferences, or if you simply prefer a fragrance-free session.
Private Studio & Mobile Service
Where are sessions offered?
Appointments are primarily offered at my private studio in the Palm Springs Valley.
Select mobile appointments are also available based on location, scheduling, session length, and availability. Mobile appointments must be arranged directly and are not available for online booking.
Is local mobile service available?
Yes. Mobile appointments within approximately 15 miles may be available depending on scheduling and location.
Please contact me directly before booking to discuss mobile availability.
What about locations beyond 15 miles?
Travel beyond 15 miles is subject to an additional travel fee based on distance and location.
Any applicable travel fee will be communicated before the appointment is confirmed.
What about locations more than 30 miles away?
Locations beyond 30 miles require a minimum booking of:
Two 90-minute sessions or longer, back-to-back at the same location, plus a $60 travel fee.
This allows adequate time to accommodate extended travel, setup, and breakdown.
How far will you travel?
Mobile appointments are generally limited to locations within approximately one hour of travel.
Requests beyond one hour may be considered individually but are not guaranteed.
Are hotel, resort, parking, or valet fees included?
No.
Parking, valet, resort access, entrance, or similar fees associated with a mobile appointment are the responsibility of the client and are separate from any applicable travel fee.
What is required for a mobile massage?
Please provide a clean, quiet, safe, and reasonably private area with adequate room for a professional massage table and enough space for the therapist to comfortably move around it.
Excessive noise, interruptions, pets, children, insufficient space, unsafe conditions, or lack of privacy may interfere with the session.
Health, Safety & Eligibility
What is the minimum age for services?
Clients must be 18 years of age or older to book or receive services from Calm Theory Bodywork.
What if I'm sick?
Please reschedule if you are experiencing fever, contagious illness, vomiting, significant respiratory symptoms, or otherwise feel too unwell for massage.
Massage may also need to be modified or postponed because of certain injuries, infections, surgeries, medical procedures, or health conditions.
When in doubt, please contact me before your appointment.
Do I need to complete an intake form?
Yes. New clients may be asked to complete a confidential intake form before their first session.
Please provide accurate information regarding relevant health conditions, medications, allergies, injuries, pregnancy, recent procedures, or other information that may affect your massage.
Can massage diagnose or treat a medical condition?
No.
Massage therapy is intended to support relaxation, comfort, mobility, recovery, and general wellness. It does not replace medical diagnosis, medical treatment, physical therapy, or other care provided by qualified healthcare professionals.
Professional Conduct & Boundaries
What are your professional conduct policies?
Calm Theory Bodywork provides professional therapeutic massage and bodywork only.
Sexual requests, sexual comments, intentional exposure, inappropriate touching, harassment, threatening behavior, or other inappropriate conduct will result in immediate termination of the session.
The client may remain responsible for the scheduled service and may be refused future appointments.
Can I receive massage while intoxicated?
No.
Clients who appear significantly impaired by alcohol or recreational drugs may be refused service for safety and professional reasons.
The appointment may be treated as a late cancellation or no-show when applicable.
Can I stop or change something during my massage?
Absolutely.
Consent is ongoing throughout your session. You may request changes to pressure, positioning, techniques, draping, temperature, music, or any other element of your massage at any time.
You may ask to stop a technique or end the session entirely.
The therapist also reserves the right to modify, decline, or terminate a session when a health contraindication, safety concern, inappropriate conduct, or other circumstance makes continuing unsuitable.
Payment & General Terms
How do I pay for my session?
Payment for the scheduled service is due at the completion of your appointment unless otherwise arranged.
Cash or Zelle are accepted for the remaining service balance.
A valid card is required on file when booking and may be charged when applicable under the cancellation and no-show policy.
Are gratuities expected?
Gratuities are never required or expected.
If you feel your experience exceeded your expectations and choose to leave a gratuity, it is always sincerely appreciated.
